Binance review: our verdict for US customers

Here is the short version of this Binance review from the CryptoExID editorial team: the global Binance platform offers deep liquidity, and its standard spot fee of 0.10% per side was checked August 18, 2026. The data team's one-line verdict: "Deep liquidity and near-zero spot fees on the global platform; regulatory standing varies by market." In our catalog, that makes Binance.com a strong option for liquidity and fees.

One warning for US readers. You do not get the global exchange. You get Binance.US, a separate company with a different coin catalog and thinner order books. That gap is the central compromise of this Binance exchange review, and it shapes every section below. If execution quality and cost drive your decision, compare Binance.US with the best crypto exchanges available in the US. If you live in an excluded state, skip to section eight.

Binance.com vs Binance.US: which platform can Americans use?

Binance runs through separate legal entities, and where you live decides which one you can join. The global platform, Binance.com, founded in 2017, does not onboard US residents. Americans are routed to Binance.US, operated by BAM Trading Services since 2019.

When we checked on August 18, 2026, Binance.US was unavailable in New York, Texas, Hawaii and Vermont, according to the Binance.US availability page. The global exchange also excluded Canada and the Netherlands on that date, according to Binance's country availability information.

The split is not just geographic. Coin catalogs, products such as futures and staking, and order book depth all differ between the entities. Binance.US is operated by BAM Trading Services, but that status should not be read as regulatory approval or as a complete answer to whether either platform is legitimate.

Is Binance safe? Security, regulation and proof of reserves

The honest answer has three parts.

The US settlement

Start with the hard part. In November 2023, Binance settled with the US Department of Justice and FinCEN for $4.3 billion over AML and sanctions failures, and founder Changpeng Zhao stepped down as CEO, according to the DOJ settlement announcement. We treat it as a real mark on the record, not a footnote.

SAFU and asset custody

Binance uses cold storage for customer assets and runs SAFU, an emergency insurance fund, according to the vendor's security documentation checked August 18, 2026. We call that baseline hygiene, not a guarantee. The regulatory record remains a concern.

What proof of reserves shows

Binance publishes proof-of-reserves snapshots for certain assets. They do not show full liabilities, and they are not financial audits. These snapshots are a useful transparency signal, nothing more. See our ranking of the most secure crypto exchanges.

Binance fees: what a trade and withdrawal actually cost

On Binance.com, trading fees begin at 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker on the standard spot tier, according to the vendor's fee schedule, checked August 18, 2026. Makers post resting limit orders and add liquidity; takers cross the spread and remove it. Paying fees in BNB, or climbing 30-day volume tiers, pushes the rate lower. Binance.US fees require a separate current check.

Check the live quote, spread, expected fill and fee immediately before confirming a trade.

On Binance.com, withdrawal fees work differently. Each asset and network carries its own charge, shifting with congestion, so we will not publish a static table. Check the figure on your preview screen immediately before confirming. Binance.US withdrawal fees require a separate current check.

Coins, liquidity and advanced trading tools

Supported coins

The global platform listed more than 350 assets when we checked on August 18, 2026, according to the vendor's markets page. Binance.US carries a different catalog; we will not quote a count without a separate live check. Catalog size is not liquidity. A long list with thin books fills worse than a short list with deep ones.

Futures and margin

Futures, margin and P2P trading are verified features of the global exchange. Access depends on entity and jurisdiction, so treat the global derivatives menu as reference material, not an offer. In short, these products are confirmed globally but were not testable from a US account.

Bots, copy trading and API access

Other verified global flags from August 18, 2026: copy trading, trading bots, API access, OTC and institutional desks, staking, lending, cards and recurring buys. Which ones appear in your account is a jurisdiction question. Our fills were small and never stressed the book. Traders moving size should compare live depth first, starting with our Binance vs Coinbase for US users breakdown.

KYC, payment methods, limits and withdrawals

Identity verification is required. Trading and withdrawals both required identity verification when we checked on August 18, 2026.

In the Binance.US account screen we checked, funding options included ACH and debit card. Availability, fees, settlement times and withdrawal holds can vary by account, so review the terms shown before confirming a deposit.

Binance limits scale with verification level, payment rail and jurisdiction, so your numbers will differ from ours. Instant withdrawals exist in some flows. Treat them as possible, never promised.

Binance app review: what daily use feels like

The Binance.US iOS app offers a simple buy path and a Pro view with the order book, depth chart and advanced order types.

Before confirming an order, review the displayed fee and other transaction details. For a first purchase the simple path is enough; the Pro view is where the app earns its keep.

Who should use Binance.US, and who should choose an alternative?

Binance.US fits cost-conscious spot traders in states where it operates, provided its current fees, catalog and order books meet their needs. It is a weaker fit if you live in New York, Texas, Hawaii or Vermont, if you need the deepest US dollar books, or if the 2023 settlement is a dealbreaker for you. Those readers should start with our Binance alternatives for US customers page. Fee-driven traders can cross check the lowest-fee crypto exchanges for US traders. Everyone else: verify access first, then test with a small deposit.
